Violet...among other things

My Pal Violet is really neat (or My Pal Scout if you're a boy)! I would highly recommend it. Soph is in love with her. :)

On another note, Sophie had her 9 month check up this morning. She is "perfect" and "chill" according to Dr. Reiser. He couldn't get over how good she was the whole HOUR we were there. The wait was a bit excessive, considering our appointment was at 8:30....and that was the earliest appointment.  Oh well.

Our girl is 27 1/4 inches long, 19.2 pounds, and her head was 17 1/2 inches in circumference. She's growing like wild. As you can see, she was impressed with herself! Luckily, no shots today. Mama and Dada were happy about that!

Sophie's first Dec. 25th

We got a new camera for Christmas...these are some of my favorite pictures.
(I'll have pictures from Christmas Eve once I upload them from the old camera.)

Sophie opening present #1

Mama is LOOOOOVING those toofers....and she's loving her new drum

yes, that's right. KatNatt got an iPhone for Christmas. Me=jealous

this girl loves her Dada...especially when he does this!

I can't believe she's big enough for this! she looks hesitant, but she LOVES it!

Santa ate his cookies and milk...AND he left Sophie a note!

I thought this Sing-a-ma-jig was super creepy. Sophie is obsessed with it.

Uncle Bub gave Soph a mowhawk. He was rocking a fauxhawk.

My Grandpa gave me this rocking chair when I was a little one...now it's Soph's!

This is her new talent. The scowl. Uh oh!

Merry Christmas!

Got the Christmas cards printed yesterday, and they're all in envelopes. Just need to pick up the stamps and drop them in the mail. I made approximately 7 cards this year - it was hard narrowing it down to THE card. Here, for your viewing pleasure, is the runner up. Hope your card arrives before too long! :)

Christmas officially arrived in our living room! I love this season...but I HATE the cold! Not ready for the winter part of Christmas :)

Thankful

There are so many reasons for us to be thankful this year.

For starters, Sophie. She is the sweetest, cutest, happiest, best-sleepin' baby this side of town! I have to admit, I think I've grown a 2nd heart for the amount of love this girl gives and brings into our lives. She is a miraculous gift that we couldn't be more thankful for if we tried!

I am so thankful for my husband. He does so much for us. Every morning he gets up first and will make my lunch for me. He's gone for 9 hours a day and doesn't get the 1.5 hours of snuggle time that I usually get before and after work, but he never complains about it. He handles all the finances because he knows I'll have anxiety attacks if I do it. He rakes the leaves - for us and my mom...and sometimes her friends. He is so selfless and wonderful and I couldn't be luckier!

We are thankful for our family...and I think they're thankful for our bundle! :)

We are thankful for our home. Even though it's small enough that at times it feels like the walls are closing in on us, we have heat and hot water and a place to be a family. We're really enjoying that a lot these days.

We are thankful for our friends. They are our second family. I'm so glad that there are so many little gals that Soph will be able to grow up with and learn from before too long!

We are thankful. Happy Thanksgiving! :)

TOOFS!

Sophie is officially cutting teeth. Her two bottom teeth have broken the gums. Poor girl had a fit this evening. Those toofs must hurt really bad! I was very sad that my 3 month old is growing up so fast. Then I looked at some pictures of little babies with their bottom teeth, and I felt better! She'll look too cute! I'm going to try my hardest to get a picture of them poking through...might be tough, but I'm going to try!

sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet

so the birthday wish list worked. :) lee got me a 1 hour massage (which I'm going to in 2 hours!). I also got the super-fun drying rack for all the wonderful baby bottles we wash everyday! too fun.

for the rest of the day, lee and i are being good citizens and installing the laminate flooring my  mom picked out at her house. wierdly enough, it's kind of fun... :)

and around the corner...

is 30! i'm turning 26 today. i really don't feel old, and i know i'm not...but 26 seems like a "grown-up" age. i may own a house, have a career, and be a mom, but i definitely don't feel like a grown-up. is that a problem?

on my wish list for this birthday:

this frilly number from jcrew

this rip-off balenciaga

any...or all...of these jonathan adler pillows

this drying rack for my beebs

this prefab "shed" for my backyard

and the vernal cusp rug from anthropologie

also, a trip to maui, an iPhone, new siding on our house, and a 2 hour full-body massage. that's not asking too much, right?

my husband did make me breakfast in bed...that might be the best thing ever! :)

catch up...not ketsup

sophie is 3 months old! it's been a while, hasn't it?! i'm beginning to feel like there's enough time in the day to do other things. so hopefully, i'll update more often! we recently had her 3 month pictures taken by the lovely sara wiley (reesegray photography). here are a few of my faves:

i can't believe how big she's getting and how much she's changing daily. she's now "talking" a lot, smiling TONS (especially at Lee), sucking her thumb, cuddling her blanket, holding her head up. it's so neat to watch her grow!

4.24.2010

baby sophie...

has officially arrived! she joined the world april 1st at 12:12 in the morning. she weighed six pounds fourteen ounces and was 19 inches long.

3.29.2010

baby-bump-doctor visit

sooooo we're going to the doctor for a scheduled 38/39 week check-up. i'm not-very-secretly hoping that they're going to admit me! i just can't wait to meet this little girl :)

3.28.2010

spring breeeeeeeak

woooohooooo! it's spring break! we've made it this far in the school year - this is a necessary hiatus for all educators. i mean that.

our plan for break: have a baby :) we will be walking and walking and walking to try to get sophie ready to join us on the outside! her room is ready, all of our bags are packed, we have a sitter for the dog and cat, the carseat is in the car, we've scrubbed the house clean...come on sophie!

3.15.2010

it's been a while...about 9 months :)

well. we're going to have a baby...in less than a month. :)

sophie marie shively is due 4/10/2010. i can't wait to meet her and see her little face and kiss her little hands. she's moving around A LOT in my belly these days. i can actually sit and watch my belly move. it's kinda freaky.
here are the belly pictures we've taken over the course of the pregnancy...there are only a few...and let me just tell you - i am MUCH bigger now! :)
