thanksgiving weekend

well, thanksgiving is over. family is heading back to their own homes. the food was scrumptious, the company was delightful, and the nephew was ADORABLE! elam is too cute. i, unfortunately, didn't take any pictures. hopefully my brothers- and sisters-in-law did take some good ones that they'll post on facebook...right?! :)

my mom and i made it out for black friday again. it wasn't so bad this year. we didn't go out til 6am, but still, the crowds seemed a little less grumpy and cranky. i did get my fabric; i avoided joann's....they didn't deserve my business. hancock fabric did a great job of accomodating my ridiculously large purchase of fleece. lee even helped us shop this year. what a guy he is...went out on his own and braved the crowds. i love him...and so does my mom :).

slight ADD interruption, i just saw a "Clapper" commercial - they totally changed their song and i hate it. no good. the original was much better.

well, thanks for reading. we hope everyone had a great thanksgiving!

holiday un-cheer

so, my first two holiday shopping experiences so far have been disasters. thanks to those retail employees who put up with this season, but SERIOUSLY best buy and joann fabrics. you guys suck.

best buy - i'm not sure why 32 days before christmas you're already cattle-prodding your shoppers into register lines that AREN'T working...AND THEN not letting them change lanes after 10 minutes of waiting for the "customer service representative" to acknowledge that we existed and that we were waiting for her to stop pounding on the keyboard to help us.

joann's - screw you. all i was asking was that you let me get 48, let me repeat....48, yards of fleece cut before black friday. this, by the way, was for a service learning project for elementary students at a school in your community....which i told you but i'm pretty sure you didn't hear since you were too busy being a jerk. i was asking this as a favor to you, really. now, you'll see me bright and early on friday morning being a total witch. i will do nothing to help you or your employees to enjoy their morning. instead of having those cut into 6 yards each (only 8 cuts) i will be making you cut them at a yard and a half. yep. now it will be 24 cuts. have fun. also, i will not be providing you w/ the tax exempt copy that you need. you can have one of your managers (who lie on the phone) to leave the register and get the copy him or herself.

happy holidays to you.

no more unpaid work this week...

what a relief. i did my internship on monday and tuesday this week. the days seem so long when you know there's no pay check coming for your hard work. i love what i'm doing, but it's kind of depressing. let's not even start to mention that next semester i'll be working for free 5 days a week. ugh! i better get a freaking job next fall. please, anyone, let me know if you hear of a school counseling job open up in the next 6 months or so. i would GREATLY appreciate it.
i don't mean to sound cynical, but this is a lot of hard work and stress - and the possibility of getting a job seems slim. soooo....please keep me in your thoughts :).

laaaazy days

it's 9:59 pm and i'm still in my p.j.s :) i love that. well, the living room looks like christmas. now i just can't wait until the outside is decorated. i'm sure lee's not looking forward to that. we should've taken pictures or made a blueprint of how we put the lights up last year. i'm not sure we'll be able to recreate the same gloriousness we displayed last year. i love christmastime. i'll love whatever we do with our big lights and our snowman and our palm tree...still dreaming of warmer times :)
lee was a sweetie tonight. he made dinner while i put up the bazillion holiday touches we had stored away onto the shelves in the living room. yummy spaghetti and veggies. thanks bear ;) AND he scooped us some ice cream during a colt's game. what a guy!
buck had a pretty traumatizing day. he hates when we use the vaccuum - it was out all day. we moved the couches to sweep, and apparently he doesn't like when we move the couches. we put the tree up, and unfortunately he hates fake tree branches. since he was SO stressed out, he's been sleeping since we put the vaccuum away at about 5:30. and yeah, don't worry, he'll sleep all night, too!

harley bo barley has had a lovely day. he LOVES the christmas tree and especially the tree skirt. from the moment i put the tree skirt out in the living room he's been laying on it. he's sitting under the tree right now. how cute.
one final note: Dear TV - you know how how replay the MTV movie and music awards 3,247 times every year, could you please replay the AMAs? i didn't get to watch them because the colts were playing an important game. thanks.

sunday :)

i don't know how i did it, but i somehow convinced lee to let us start christmas decorating already! :) yay. the tree's up, soon to have lights, but no ornaments til the day after thanksgiving. i'll settle for that.

11.21.2008

i've been into making cards and calendars this last few months. so, i think i've spent over 25 hours on the computer just creating-away. it's fun. maybe they'll make fun stocking stuffers....if you're lucky! :) lee just got home. tonight is quite a married friday evening. we're grocery shopping, making dinner at home and doing laundry. maybe we can throw in a rented movie. that sounds like fun. hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

i'll leave you with one last thought...
o-h....here's where you say "i-o". the buckeyes play michigan. big game. send good thoughts!

so, today, i was a stay at home wife, again. no sub job. lee stayed home sick. it's freezing cold. we got to eat lunch with katnatt, so that was nice. but brrrrr....it's freezing! i'm not ready for winter, but i think lee is. i am however ready for christmas decorations. what fun it is to take all the stuff off the shelves and replace it all with fun sparkly christmas cheer. ahhh. only a week more and lee will let me put it all up!

this is our first post. hopefully, all of you reading this are ready for daily updates about our lives. not too exciting yet, but FULL of stuff. lee's performing tonight with the speedway high schoolers in the Cinderella musical. i'm not watching tonight, but i'll get my chance on saturday. he's the bass player in the pit. what a nice little teacher man. this week i had class on monday, brooke's place on wednesday, and a taping assignment on friday. i also did my practicum two days this week. so basically, butler owns me at this point. only one semester left, though. looking forward to being a non-college student for a while! :)

well, i'll stop typing now. i don't want to scare anyone away on the first post. i'll try to keep them short, sweet, and full of info!
